Help Us Support The Community

If you ask most IT Guru’s how they learned everything they know they will tell you by doing. Like myself many have half baked labs in their basements, garages, or even right in the middle of their living room. The problem today is with Virtualization the requirements for a suitable lab have grown substantially and most don’t have the means to obtain the needed equipment let alone power all of it. I have an idea that I hope will come to be much more over the next months to years. I want to build a community lab that would allow those who don’t have access to the needed equipment to still be able to learn and build their skills they same way I did when I got in to IT. The challenge is procuring the hardware to build such an environment.

That is what this is all about. I’m starting an aggressive campaign for donations. Donations can be monetary to help support costs for such an environment, but they can also be donations of equipment, software, and services such as co-location rack space. Together as a community we can build an environment for all to share and foster in an effort to help our fellow man. I’m frequently lending the use of my lab out but my personal lab is not really built for this purpose and although I like to help where I can my lab has its limitations for sure. In the coming days I will be posting a wish list of equipment needed to build this “OpenSource” community lab. Any and all donations are welcome to help drive this initiative.

As a token of our appreciation all donations will be listed on this site and for substantial donations I will work with organizations to put their ads on premium advertising space here of dailyhypervisor.com. Advertisements will also be placed on all computer backgrounds, system generated emails for the lab and other areas to be announced soon. If your reading this and think you could benefit from an environment like this, don’t just leave because you can’t donate. Think of someone you know who can and pass this along. If you have used equipment that meet our minimum specs that is being decommissioned, new equipment, cash donations, or something that you think would help please contact me Sid Smith.

In the mean time I would like to thank all of you for reading our blog. Now help spread the word so we can build an environment to help support the community. I will be posting a detailed wish list with minimum system specs , as well as a link to send donations within the coming days so please remember to check back.

Thank You,
Sid Smith
